Pictures Taken When Delivered To Dealer

Since this is my web site I am exercising owner's privilege and devoting a page to pictures of my personal Fire Red 2000 New Body Style Yukon. My Yukon was built on 5/17/2000 at the GM factory in Janesville, Wisconsin. It was delivered to the selling dealer on 5/31/2000 @ 9:15 am. I was fortunate to be at the dealership shortly after the Yukon was delivered and got to inspect my Yukon along with the dealer doing the delivery inspection. I was also able to take some pictures of the SUV as it was delivered. According to the dealer, the orange piece of paper on the passenger's seat indicates to the shipping people that the vehicle delivery is supposed to be expedited. The large upper box in the cargo area contains the factory running boards, which the dealer must install. The smaller lower box in the cargo area contains the cargo area windowshade type cover.

Other potential owners might find these photos interesting. They show just how the truck is shipped.

Pictures Taken When Brought Home

When I brought my new Yukon home at 4:30 pm on 5/31/2000, I took the following pictures. They show my Yukon after the dealer did their prep work and before I started to add all those after market goodies I had been buying while I awaited delivery of this custom built SUV. My Yukon is an SLT version, with the 1SD package. It has the optional 5.3L V8 engine with the stock 3.42 axle ratio. Other options I purchased include the high capacity air cleaner and the high capacity transmission cooler. I was also able to get the factory running boards option while many other people didn't get this option due to manufacturing constraints.

I choose not to get the sunroof because I don't like sunroofs. I also didn't get the 3rd row seats because I am single and don't need to carry that many people and because the 3rd row of seats takes away from the cargo area. I also did not get the factory trailer hitch because I do not plan to tow anything with this vehicle.

I purchased the Yukon to have a comfortable vehicle to drive on my 130+mi commute to and from work each day. I tried to equip it to provide me with a powerful vehicle that would get decent gas mileage. I also chose the Fire Red color so that my Yukon would be different from all of those Pewter Yukon's that are so common.

Pictures With After Market Accessories

The photos below show my Yukon with some of the after market accessories installed. The first item installed was a Lund Interceptor bug deflector. The entire installation process took about 10 minutes and only required a philips head screwdriver. I chose this item to protect the front edge of the hood. I drive approx. 40,000 miles per year, so lots of things from the road jump up and pit the front of my vehicles. I hope the Lund unit will protect it.

Also showing in the pictures are some stainless steel/chrome fender trim flares that I will install once I apply Zaino wax to the entire truck. I was curious to see how these trim pieces fit and looked, so I installed them with duct tape as a temporary means to satisfy my curiosity. The trim pieces still have their protective film and location stickers on them. When they are permanently installed I feel the wheel wells will have the trim that GM should have installed at the factory to give the Yukon a finished appearance.

Another after market accessory I have to install is a stainless steel/chrome 4" Rocker Panel kit. This should protect the lower body panels from road debris. I also plan to purchase mud flaps once I find some that are designed to fit this model Yukon. I am also considering installing a wood dash kit to complete the appearance of the interior.
