Parallel Resistor Potentiometer Graph

This Java applet is designed to allow you to graph Output Voltage (Vout) vs. Potentiometer Position for either of the the following simple circuits;

a.

b.

Note that Vout for circuit "b", will be inverted. Circuit "b" is also generally more applicable to the real world as this type of circuit is often found when attenuators are added to summing inputs.

To use the applet, enter your values for Vin, the potentiometer, and the resistor. Then hit the "Graph It" button. The resulting output voltage curve is drawn in red. In additon to showing Vout vs. pot position for the above circuits, the applet also calculates and displays the output of a perfect linear (gray) and/or log pot (blue) for reference. The log values are inverse log base 10 (audio taper).

This applet is based on Sun's JDK version 1.1. For this applet to function, a user must have either Netscape 4.03+ with the JDK1.1 extentions (beta version available here), or Internet Explorer 4.01.
