This blog originated out of reflections on the state of politics in Georgia, the "Peach State," in 2003. The name suggested that our Peach State was securely in the hands of Mammon, the name of a being associated with the love of money. It also occurred to me that the peach color is a mixture of the red, suggesting blood, and gold, with its obvious suggestion. Even though the blog almost immediately took on a national and global interest, the name stuck.
