Graham Watkins' Virtual Homepage

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Special instructions for this page:

All links (except for Kevin's Virtual Page) from within the Pyramid will load in the upper frame; the frames are used so the loading of the Pyramid, which is rather time-consuming, only need be done once. To view the page linked to (and to view this page more clearly) pull the frame bar (horizontal bar dividing the two frames) down; to return to the Pyramid view (if desired), pull the frame bar back up. Caution: if the frame bar is pulled too far down (down so far that only the menu bar at the bottom--or part of it-- remains visible), the browser may lose its "grip" on the virtual world image, resulting in a blank but brightly colored field. You can correct this partially by clicking on "view" in the Live-3D menu bar, but, unless you access the link again and reload (select reload in your browser's menu) the virtual world, the background will remain brightly colored instead of black.

2. General instructions for using Live-3D (VRML) images:

a) Walk and Spin. With "walk" selected (default), press the left mouse button and move the mouse the direction you want to go. Alternately, you can use the keyboard cursor controls; this sometimes allows better precision. Pressing the right mouse button causes the image to "spin" in the direction of mouse movement, up/down or left/right; the same occurs if the spin menu item is chosen, but then left mouse button produces the spin.

b) Slide. If this is selected, left mouse button drag cause the image to move laterally left/right or up/down.

c) Look. Moves the observer's viewpoint up/down or left/right without moving the observer placement.

d) Point. If this is selected, clicking on any spot in the image will cause the observer's viewpoint to move toward that spot (click once and release if walk/spin/slide are selected).

e) Lamp. Turns a 3D spotlight on and off. Experiment for the best view.

f) View. Instantly returns the observer to the entry view.

g) ?. Places navigational shortcuts in the view window.

Clicking anywhere in the image with the right mouse button will cause a general options menu to appear. Suggested options which may not be set as a default are "stay on ground" and "collision detection;" collision detection prevents walking through the walls, which may be somewhat confusing.
