The Character Of Caleb

Text: Numbers 14:24  But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit
with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring
into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Introduction: what was it that distinguished Caleb from the other spy's?
Some seem to think it was Faith, if so why didn't the others have the
same kind of faith? They too had been in the midst of Israel and seen
God perform signs and wonders before them. They too had eaten the same
manna and drank from the same rock.  Let's look at what the bible said!

I.	Had another spirit with him.
	1a. The Hebrew for another is Acher which means different therefore
signifying that Caleb's Spirit was different than the others. Caleb had
the right spirit   Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew
a right spirit within me.

	1b. The spirit with him was not of a boastful nature, but rather one of
Gods ability and power. 

	1c. His spirit was one of imparting warlike energy, not allowing the
enemy the upper hand.

Note: I was talking to man yesterday and he was telling me about all the
power the devil has. I kept trying to say to him, Satan he is a defeated
foe, and if we possess the right spirit we will acknowledge this in all
our ways. Jer 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and
the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, [and] there is
nothing too hard for thee:
Jer 32:27 Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there
any thing too hard for me? 

Ro 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who
[can be] against us?

II.  The Spirit Caleb Had Made Him Want More Of God.
	2a. His possessions did not lie on this side of the river.
	2b. What he wanted is what God wanted him to have.
	2c. He wasn't satisfied on yesterdays experience, he wanted a new one. 
Mt 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled.


III. The Spirit Caleb Possessed Made Him Try To Stir The People.
	
	
Numbers 13:30  And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let
us go up boldly and possess it, for we are well able to do it.

	3a. He didn't let a negative spirit hinder him. and hath
followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he came;
Re 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my
throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
throne.
