Andrew and I embarked on an adventure together in January 2003, when we signed a contract with Royce Builders to build our first house. It's going to be a 3-story, 3-bedroom, 2-bath house with a two-car attached garage and a second-floor balcony over the front porch. The one major flaw in the floor plan is the lack of a bathroom on the first floor, but that isn't likely to pose a problem for us at this stage of our lives.
Pre-Construction
As of mid-March, construction still had yet to start.
March 30, 2003 - Plumbing
The construction has begun! Today we saw the first evidence that we are really going to have a house. Isn't this exciting?
April 6, 2003 - Waffle foundation
They've started on the innards of our foundation now. This is supposedly the most important part of the entire house, but it just doesn't look that exciting.
April 9, 2003 - Still more waffle foundation
Things look the pretty much the same today as they did on Sunday, though there's been some wood beams added on top of the waffle.
May 11, 2003 - One month later
I decided to skip ahead and show you the current stuff, since I'm lazy and don't seem to be getting around to posting all the older pictures.
June 12, 2003 - Another month later
Things are coming right along. The bricks are on the front, the interior is painted, the tile is in, and some of the cabinets are in, too.

We went out to the house today with my cousin Edward. He was kind enough to take some pictures of Andrew and me in front of the house, but by the time we got home they had managed to mysteriously vanish from the camera. So this is the only one we got:
June 15, 2003 - Appliance Shopping
Andrew and I went appliance shopping today at Sears. These are what we picked out:
Kenmore Elite Trio Bottom Freezer Refrigerator, in white
Maytag Model #MAV7358AWW Washer, in white
Maytag Model #MDE8757AYW Dryer, in white
June 18, 2003 - A step backwards?
I stopped by the house tonight, but found that it was locked up tightly so that I couldn't get in to look around. Thus, only a couple of pictures:

I took this afternoon off work to do various errands, including meeting a guy from Dick N' Sons Floor Coverings to get an estimate on how much it will cost to rip out the carpet and tile the builder is putting in on the first floor and replace it with Pergo. I spent a fair deal of time at the house this afternoon showing it to Bob, but didn't think to take many pictures.
