Images of Childhood

These images, drawn from memories of Creus' own childhood far away and long ago, become a return to the artist's place of origin. In reviewing her life again through a complex web of elements that recall sensations and through images of little girls that appear and disappear, she celebrates life in confrontation with death, part of the "divine tragedy". They are an extraordinarily moving reflection that invite the viewer to ponder the mysteries and conflicts of childhood.
Velasquez Series

"The Velasquez series is inspired by Diego Velasquez 's "Las Meninas"(1656), in part reflecting her endeavor to define her relationship to a tradition dominated by men.Creus remade this iconic work by recreating it in fabric and thread and then by focusing her attention upon two of the most intriguing figures in it; the infanta and the Dwarf Maribarbola.Reflecting her own beginnings as a poet the works in this series incorporate words that are embroidered into the pictorial surface. These include excerpts from poems by Ruben Dario, the renowned Nicaraguan writer and a lesser- known Argentine poet, journalist of the earlier twentieth century who passionately fought for women's rights."
