The Dance Club

   Every Tuesday night from 7:30 to 10:15, The Dance Club presents ballroom dancing at Roller Time skating rink, 707 Arcadia Circle*. The 15,000 square-foot wooden dance floor is the largest in the South and arguably the largest in the country. On the first Tuesday of every other month music is provided by a live band, while on other Tuesdays prerecorded music is played. The music includes both traditional and contemporary arrangements for a variety of dances, including foxtrot, waltz, cha cha, swing (single, triple, and West Coast), rumba, tango, samba, merengue, bolero, polka, and quick-step.

Local dance instructors provide basic and intermediate-level group lessons during the first 45 minutes of the evening. These professional lessons are included in the admission price of $5.00 (for nights with prerecorded music) or $7.00 (for band nights).

   The Dance Club, which is a non-profit organization, consists of a committee of twelve volunteers who are dedicated ballroom dancers. Their objective is to give Huntsville dancers (including themselves) a truly great place to enjoy dancing on a regular, weeknight basis.

   From its beginning in 1993, the Dance Club has donated over $65,000 to local charitable organizations including the Huntsville Public School's Center for Developmental Learning, American Red Cross, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Hospice, CASA, Christmas Charities, American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Heart Association, WLRH Public Radio, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Alzheimer's Association, and Hope Place.

   The arrangements are designed to be attractive to both single and married adults of all ages. No partner is required; dress is dressy casual, and soft drinks are available. Roller Time offers the combination of a large dance floor, good air conditioning, an excellent sound system, and a smoke-free environment. This is ballroom dancing at its best.

*Because of ongoing problems with the conditions at Skate Odyssey, the Dance Club has moved its Tuesday night dance to the Roller Time skating rink at 707 Arcadia Circle. You can check out their website at http://www.rollertime.com. Actually, this is not a new location because this is the place (near the Highway Patrol office) where the Dance Club started more than 16 years ago. This rink is larger than Skate Odyssey and the air conditioning appears much better. A map of this location is included at their website.

UAH Dance Club

    Providing a place to practice the skills learned in dance classes at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, the UAH Dance Club sponsors a dance in the University Center exhibition hall once monthly. Dance enthusiasts from the University and the Huntsville community are on hand to enjoy a free dance lesson and dancing to a wide variety of music, from the big bands of the 40's to contemporary popular artists.

    Club membership is free to UAH students and $10 a year for non-credit students or the general public. This small annual fee covers admission to the monthly dance, as well as a quarterly newsletter, which lists current information about other places to dance in Huntsville. Come and meet other people of all ages and backgrounds who share a fascination with dance!

North Alabama Dance Club

    The North Alabama Dance Club was formerly the Shoals chapter of the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association. Their regular monthly dances are held at the Broadway Recreational Center, 400 Broadway, on the third Saturday. Admission: Members $4, Non-Members $6, Visitors from more than 50 miles away $2.

MARS Ballroom Dance Club

    The MARS Ballroom Dance Club was organized for government employees of the Marshall Space Flight Center and the independent contractors who work with them. Membership is $10.00 per year per person or family. Dance lessons are given approximately four times a month for six months of the year.

Twickenham Ballroom Dance Club

    The objective of Twickenham Ballroom Dance Club (TBDC) is to encourage ballroom dancing in the Huntsville-Madison County area of Alabama. TBDC sponsors three dinner dance parties each year with recorded music. Dress is dance casual attire (necktie optional). The parties are intended primarily for couples as the club prefers to maintain a gender balance at its activities.

Huntsville Swing Dance Society

    The Huntsville Swing Dance Society was founded to promote the enjoyment of swing dancing and has been sponsoring dances in Huntsville since 1995.  Membership in the HSDS is only $20 per year.  Members receive discounts on dances, classes, dance shoes, and more!
