High above the streets of Tokoyo, a little girl is floating downward
on an umbrella. High as she is, this small child is unafraid. She giggles with delight
as she lands, clutching her doll.
Hopelessly adorable, this two-year-old only knows one word: "chibi". So her name became Chibi-chibi, literally "small-small". She can echo other people's words and does it all the time, mostly to annoy them.
But who is she? Chibi-usa's daughter from the future? No, Pluto says that that can't be. Truth is, Chibi-chibi is one of the biggest "Sailor Moon" mysteries yet. And her story is different in the manga and anime.
In the anime, she is the "light of hope", the starseed of Galaxia in human form. When Galaxia realized that Chaos was begining to take over her soul, she put all of her hope into her starseed and sent it out into space, telling it to find the defender of love and justice. This "defender" was of course, Sailor Moon, so the starseed took on Usagi's infant form. Thus, Chibi-chibi was created.
In the manga, Chibi-chibi is another form of Sailor Cosmos, the "perfect" form of Sailor Moon. Some say that Sailor Cosmos is a goddess, but not much is really known about her. She came from the future, way beyond Crystal Tokyo, with Chibi-chibi to alter the outcome of the last battle with Galaxia. In the end, she decides to leave it as is, leaving the time line undisturbed.
In the meantime, I'm content to fuss over this cute little kid. Her adorable antics are, well, adorable. I mean, just look at those bunny ears. Aww! (Note: Special thanks to Princess Crisium for sending me the manga version.)
