Makoto Kino: Sincerity of Wood

At the happily chaotic Crown game center, one girl towers above the crowd. Her red-brown tresses hang from a high ponytail, which only adds to her hieght. Her green eyes sparkle feircely as she battles the evils of the latest video game. She is Makoto Kino, the mysterious new girl at Juuban Middle School, rummored to be violent and aggresive. But even with such a reputation, no one would ever guess that this tall young girl is also Sailor Jupiter, one of the five inner senshi.

But beneath this tough exterior, is a sad individual. Her parents are both dead, killed in an airplane accident, leaving her to live alone. She had a boy friend for a while (also known as "senpai"), but he left her and she's never really gotten back on her feet. Sure she chases a guy every now and again (ok, more often than that), but there's never really been a solid relationship with anyone since senpai.

But Makoto has a close circle of caring friends, without which I doubt she could survive. She dotes on them to no end (especially Usagi), looking out for them as if they were her children. No wonder she is called "the Senshi of Protection". Woe to the fool who threatens one of her friends, he will soon regret it.

In battle, Sailor Jupiter has a very simple and aggresive fighting style; strike first, ask later. She is one of the strongest inner senshi in terms of attack power and certainly the strongest in terms of physical strength. In one of my favorite anime episodes, she lifted a male figure skater completely over her head; and that was in civilian form!

Sailor Jupiter has always been my favorite senshi. She is strong in battle, yet gentle at heart. She takes care of her friends and takes care of her enemies (in different ways of course). She keeps going despite the rough life she's had. She takes care of her apartment, goes to school, spends time with her friends, and still finds the energy to be a senshi.A truly admirable character. (Sorry, got a little mushy there.)
