This is a photo that will never be taken again - for a couple of reasons. First off, it's extremely rare that you'd find 12 of our ATRs parked on our Newark ramp at one time. (Go ahead and count them - if you're having trouble finding the twelfth, look on the left side of the picture - you can just see the tailcone.) It's even more rare that there would be 12 ATRs and not a single RJ - these days, jets are close to making up half of the Continental Express fleet. And finally, the reason why this will certainly never happen again - the ramp that all these planes are parked on is now a big hole in the ground! By mid-2001 it will be a completely new concourse, built specifically to handle Newark's role at a major international hub for Continental. Where will the ATRs park then? Nobody knows |
