In keeping up a tradition, the night before the official kickoff of the festival, Shea and I, with our resident Leipziger friend Jutta, hosted dinner for about 55 people associated with the Americans In Leipzig group that we started years ago (see here for more info). This year we held the dinner at MagaPon, an old favorite restaurant of ours, and they created a special menu for our dinner. When we arrived there was a sign on the door, loosely translated to "food service for goths only"!

Here are pictures that include us and people that we know. Many of the people that are "people we know" are people that we've met over the years at previous WGTs - sometimes they are in the "people we don't know" section of past years' photos...

The performances and events bring the people to Leipzig, but the real spectacle is the people themselves.

Saturday night at the Werk II was the annual WGT fetish party. While most of the outfits aren't really ground breaking (though some are!), overall it's a well-dressed crowd (there is a dress code), and I always have a lot of fun...

Every year, *the* big party is the last-night party at the Moritzbastei. Everyone packs in to say a sad "goodbye-until-next-year" and the party goes on and on. This year I had a lot of competition for the title of "Last American Standing" - look for the 8:30am pictures of the 8 of us that made a truce and left as they were locking up.
