HERRING
Larry R. HERRIN
Sun Dec 8 07:04:43 1996
Edward HERRING, Sr. died in Chatham Co. in 1788 as did Philip HERRING in
1789 and Elizabeth in 1790. Catherine HERRING was in the 1790 Census of
Chatham. I believe that Philip was married to Elizabeth and Edward to
Catherine. Edward HERRING had as an administrator to his estate Ephraim
HERRING of Wake Co. Also living in Wake was William HERRING, Edward
HERRING, Jr. with wife Mary Ann, Edward HERRING with wife Sarah MOTLEY,
Owing HERRING, and Moses HERRING or "HERON", neighbor to Edward
"HERON". Moses HERRING married Agnes GRESHAM and Ephraim
HERRING married Agnes LEE. It appears that many of these families moved
on to Wilkes Co., NC and finally to Pendleton and Spartanburg Co.s, NC.
My line is Shadrack HERRIN who was from Rowan Co., NC, but associated
with Edward HERRING there before Edward moved to Wilkes Co. Neighbors and
relatives were: BARBEE, JONES, HENDON, GRISHAM, BRAY, SORRELL, and
others. Need help: allied families, marriages, deed records or whatever
that will supply additional information on these familes.

Seven of these sons belong to John and one belongs to Richard. Does anyone know which son is Richard's?

STEWART / PACK / SWICEGOOD / MYERS
James C. Stewart Tue Sep 24
19:08:48 1996
I have two lines from Davie County. First is the Stewart line.
My great grandfather was born in Davie County (per the census)
and is buried in Fork Church cemetary. His name is Archibald H.
Stewart , born in 1820 and died in 1905. His wife was Jane Pack
born July 31, 1818 and died Aug 21, 1906. I have not been able
to find anything on their parents. Any help would be appreciated.
The second line is Swicegood. I have a lot of information on them
based on other researchers. My great grandfather was Hiram
Swicegood born in 1836 and died in 1915 in Cherry Hill. Any info
would be appreciated. His wife was Fannie E Myers born in 1839 and
died in Salisbury in 1917.
HERN/HEARNE/HERRING
I am interested in the Hearne and Herring families of old Rowan in the part that was Davie Co. prior to the county's formation. Some members of the families living there were:
Nehemiah and Betty Caldwell Hearn
James and Elizabeth Miller Hern
Nicholas Hearn
William and Tabitha Hern Hern
Edward Herring, Sr.
and a few others. On the 1790 Rowan Co., NC Census was Shadwick Herin and Richard Harron, both living near different Hinkle families. Edward Herring was sued in court by the heirs of Charles Hinkle. Shadrack _____ is listed as a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church 1794 on the transcribed records within the Dutchmen's Creek's records. Along with that name was Rebecca Herrin, so I certainly think that the missing last name was "Herrin", especially since Shad's wife's name was Rebecca and fellow travelers, Vachel & Susannah Stogsdill were also members. Is there any information on these families? I have the "Hearne Family" already.

BRINEGAR
Margaret and John BRINEGAR in the family above are descendants of Adam BRINEGAR or BRUNINGER, who immigrated in 1731 at age 5, with his parents Veith and Barbara BRUNINGER. Adam was an early settler in Rowan Co. NC, and appears on the 1759 and 1768 tax lists. His will, dated 1767, probated 1772, names wife Elizabeth, sons Adam, John and Jacob, and daughters Catrina and Barbara. Adam's son Jacob BRINEGAR married Mary PROCK in 1768. I believe they are the parents of Joshua, father of Margaret and John BRINEGAR above. I don't yet know the name of Joshua's wife.
