Personal:
Son of John Ferdinand DeBardeleben and Clarissa Lucinda Wooten.  Born 8 February, 1824 at Blackstock, Chester County, South Carolina.  Was living in Autauga County, Alabama at the time of the war.  Gravesite is located in the Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.

Married to Laura Lucella Mitchell on 11 March, 1845.  Children: Josephine, Maria, Julia, Kate, John, Joseph, Lilla, Samuel, Laura and Margaret

Military:
1861 15th Battalion, Alabama Partisan Rangers
June 8, 1863 Company A, 56th Regiment, Alabama Partisan Rangers; promoted to Major
March 1, 1864 Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel
March 10, 1864   Submitted his resignation for the purpose of becoming Chaplain of the Army.  Resignation was accepted with the effective date of 3 June, 1864.  However, he did not resign and remained in service.
This unit operated in Northern Mississippi until being sent to Georgia to take part in the Dalton-Atlanta Campaign
1864   Formed the Robinson Springs Home Guard
    Arthur Alexander  was the brother of two other DeBardeleben's in the service of the CSA - Richard K. DeBardeleben and John F. DeBardeleben
