| DeBardeleben Men In Gray> |
| > |
These pages are a memorial
to the 12 DeBardeleben and DeBardelaben men who served in the
army of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War
Without firsthand knowledge of each of their circumstances, we
can only speculate why they did certain things during the war.
For example, Richard DeBardeleben (of South Carolina) went to
Alabama to join his cousin's regiment rather than one in his
home state. Who took care of his plantation while he was
gone?
Arthur Markley
DeBardeleben was wounded and captured twice (Seven Pines and
Gettysburg). Each time, he was released by the Union
forces and rejoined his unit after recovering from his wounds.
