Patrick Giordani's Home Page
Hello fellow Internet surfer and welcome to my home page. I'm very
glad that you made it this far . . . and I hope that you'll stick around
long enough to get to know just a little bit more about me and my life.
After all, these days, acquaintances that begin in cyberspace are often
the most real, vivid, and long-lasting - and maybe that will be true of
us.
My Background
I was born and raised in Southern California (a state, some would
say, unto itself), the eldest of three children. Twelve years of parochial
school taught me many things; overpowering guilt, a sense of the sardonic,
and the ability to swear in Latin are among them. High school was followed
by a brief stint in the U.S. Army. After the Army I began my "academic"
career, and, twelve years later I'm still plugging away. And, before we go any further, if you ARE
that special employer or University Dean, here's my vitae.
I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know
me is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . .
My Academic Interests
I am currently a graduate student at the University of California, Riverside, pursuing a doctorate in Social and Personality Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Psychology. I work under Dr. M. Robin DiMatteo and, with my partner Suzy O'Donnell, am conducting health psychology research on humanistic physician behaviors and their impact on the doctor-patient relationship.
I graduated with a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from California State University, Fullerton.
My thesis involved a behavior genetic analysis of problem behaviors in children and adolescents.
I am interested in industrial/organizational psychology, personality/trait
theory, and research methods.
My Personal Interests and Hobbies
I am an avid reader of history, and belong to a medieval recreation
group called the Society for Creative Anachronism.
The group is organized into twelve kingdoms worldwide.

I love the outdoors, and hiking, rockclimbing, and backpacking
are among my favorite activities when I'm not chained to a desk.
Links to My Favorite Sites
Another way to really get to know someone - especially someone who spends
as much time at the computer as I do - is to learn their favorite sites:
