The Delta Blues Museum is located at 114 Delta Avenue, P.O. Box 280, Clarksdale MS 38614. The phone is (601) 624-4461. The museum includes videotape, photographs, recordings, books, memorabilia and other sources of blues information. The museum is small but a good source of blues information and well worth a visit if you are in the area. I was there at the time of the annual Sunflower Blues Festival which was a great time to visit. The museum is open from 9:00 to 5:30 Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 to 5:00 on Friday. Saturday hours are 10:00 to 5:00. It is open year round. Combine it with a visit to Rooster Blues/Stackhouse Records. They have some excellent items to purchase and my favorite is a great Mississippi John Hurt t-shirt. Mail order is available. The museum was founded in 1979 by Sid Graves. The museum will soon be moving to a new and bigger location at the original train depot in Clarksdale.

I'd rather be the devil than be that woman's man. I'd rather be the devil than be that woman's man.
Oh nothing but the devil changed my baby's mind. Oh nothing but the devil changed my baby's mind.

This is a listing of some new artists that are emphasizing "Delta Blues". I hope that you enjoy them and help encourage other new artists who are helping to preserve the traditional blues style.
Rory's home page is linked to this site above. Her discography with Rounder records is also linked here. My personal favorite is High Heeled Blues. She recently released an excellent collection entitled Gone Woman Blues: The Country Blues Collection.
"Rory Block has become one of the world's most important preservers of the roots of American music..."-- Guitar Extra
"One of today's great exponents of Delta Blues guitar... playing and singing styles so true to Delta tradition that they might have been honed on the banks of the Mississippi..."-- Guitar World
My personal favorite album by Rory is High Heeled Blues (Rounder Records). Other excellent selections are Ain't I a Woman and Mama's Blues. Both are on Rounder Records. Gone Woman Blues ("The Country Blues Collection"), released on Rounder in 1997 is an excellent collection of her country- blues works.
"Imagine one of the great early Delta blues musicians had come back to life"-- Kansas City Star.
