David, Andrew, and Jin on the Pine Mountain Trail August '04
Two engineers and a want-to-be personal trainer set off on the Pine Mountain trail. I was carrying a heavy for me load of 16.5lbs plus 4lbs of water and 4lbs of food. Andrew carried 10lbs in just pill bottles and almost 12lbs of food. David carried almost 8lbs in Dale Jr. paraphernalia and animal print sheets.
Just moments before Andrew rubs his ugly on David for the first time on the trail. This would not be the last time we see this move.
Can you tell which tent is mine and which belongs to a north Georgia raised southern truck driving peeing in the garden redneck?
I always enjoy showing off some of my sewing. My 10oz dining fly that would eventually shelter us from the rain. David started calling me String-Jin because he says I could hold up the whole camp with a few feet of rope. Thank my father's old knot tying book for properly educating me on how to tie a few knots.
At Bethel Creek we found a nice shelter complete with blankets just in case one of us had forgotten our tent. Luckly everyone remembered their shelter and no one had to resort to using this public shelter.
The beautiful woods that make up FDR state park. A sunrise in the forrest can be a beautiful thing.
David wondering "Why the hell did I bring so much Dale Jr. paraphernalia?"
David on top of Dowdell Knob.
I have seen the top of the mountain, and it was good.
Andrew looking cool standing on top of the pillar marking Dowdell Knob.
Hard to look so studly when crawling trying not to fall from your high perch.
I'm half Japanese, I take pictures of things. It's in my blood.
This little feller just wanted to hang out and eat lunch with it.
This mean looking SOB did not want to move off of his rock in the middle of the trail. I had to step around him... but when he saw Dave's ugly mug he got out of the way of that big lumbering mule looking guy real quick.
Where are all the pine trees? Why the hell do they call it Pine Mountain with no pine trees? We finally ran into this big SoB near the end of the trail. That's a BIG pine tree!
I wonder what Dave was doing way out in the middle of the woods with a roll of TP? Must have had to blow his nose is my only guess.
Dave and I after surviving the harsh thunderstorms Saturday night. Andrew is noticably absent from the picture. I packed up early and made a B-line for the trailhead. He had to help the browns to the superbowl if you get my drift... and was in a hurry to get out of there.
David at Wolfden Gap. Notice how Dave is such a stud his arms do not hang straight down.
I tried to think of something witty to write in the description of this picture but I just couldn't. Anyhoo... Cascade Falls at Wolfden Gap.
