What's it for?
This website is intended to be a convenience for students taking my classes at Georgia Tech, and
a means of communication between us. It is not meant to replace the classroom, just to make it
easier for us to work together more productively.

What's in it?
- There are current messages about anything that may be relevant to the class, for example, what will be covered in class, reading assignments, extra-credit assignments, deadlines, test information, grades.
- Class outlines are posted in two formats. The regular "summary version" provides an outline of what will be covered in class, the "notetaker's version" is the same thing but with more space for taking notes on it in class. Print out and bring to class with you.
- There’s a link to WebCT, where the gradesheet is maintained and you can keep track of your progress throughout the semester. You can also use the bulletin board and chatrooms on WebCt.
- You'll find the class schedule and general policies under "Administration", as well as contact information for the teaching assistant.
- Documents that may be of general help and interest to students are posted, such as this one. There are also study hints, test-taking hints, requirements for certificates in psychology at
Tech, and I'm working on a "frequently asked questions" section.
- The "links" section includes access to the OSCAR webpage, Tech library, Psychology
Department homepage, and a variety of psychologically-oriented sites.
- Each webpage has a hot link for you to send me email by simply clicking on the mail icon.

What's the best way to access the website?
- The first time you access the website will be via the "Welcome" homepage.
- Select the Georgia Tech Classroom and you'll find the current psychology courses and
general student-interest documents. Save this page in your 'bookmarks' or 'favorites file' for
quick-and-easy access throughout the quarter.
- Select your particular course from the Georgia Tech Classroom. You can also save this
individual course page in your 'bookmarks' or 'favorites file' for direct access to specific
course-related information in the future, such as grades.
- Each webpage has some clickable icons at the end of it to give you quick access to other
pages in the site:
takes
you back one level
transports you to the "Welcome" homepage
gets you to the Georgia Tech Classroom
transfers you to my World Wide Web Links collection
lets
you send me email directly.

Some important technical tips.
- Be sure you always access the most recent version of this website, as it will be updated fairly
regularly (especially current messages and grades, for example).
- You will need to 'reload' or 'refresh' regularly to update the site. Check with tech support
for your browser to find out how to do this for your system. Your system will store or 'cache'
copies of any webpages you visit in a temporary file for quicker subsequent loading. You may
need to empty out the cache and force the browser to access the Mindspring server for the latest
version of this site from time to time, possibly at the beginning and end of each session.
- You may also be able to configure your system to access the Mindspring server regularly to
reload/refresh the site each time you use it. Again, check with tech support up front to avoid later
problems.
- We have tried to set things up for relatively quick loading and downloading. The
"Welcome" homepage is the most graphic intensive and therefore takes longest to load. Other
pages are
much quicker - they all use the same background (for readability) and small icons, which should
load almost immediately after the first use. Let me know if there are problems with loading,
downloading or printing documents.
