On March 26 & 28-29 1998 we had a couple more clear nights, managed to find M95, M96, and M46. This time I wanted to see how well the scope could track at f11 (3910 mm. focal length) for a longer exposure. I chose M96 for a 25 minute exposure because I had seen pictures revealing a faint ring detail outside the main oval of luminosity. I didn't pick up much of that. There are at least 3 additional galaxies in this picture though. I am glad I chose this object, because on May 9th, a bright supernova (SN 1998bu, IAUC6899) was discovered there. See the before and after images on my M96 page.
