Pema Chodron | | Pema Chodron is an American born Buddhist Nun, in the Tibetan vajrayana tradition, and resident teacher of Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. She began her Buddhist practice under the guidance of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the early '70s. She has described herself in her early years of meditation and buddhist practice, as a "schmuck", and has said if she could do it, then anyone can do it. If you are resisting or trying to escape from a situation or emotion in you life, I highly suggest to listen to her teachings. They are spoken with humor and warmth, and focus on overcoming obstacles, moving through fear and other painful emotions, developing the courage of a warrior, and opening the heart. She is widely popular with both beginners and more advanced students. |

If you find that you have a mental program of critical thoughts toward yourself and/or others, then I highly recommend her teachings and self-kindness practices. Reginald Ray | | Reginald Ray has been a student and teacher of meditation practice in the Tibetan vairayana tradition for over 40 years. Most meditation teachers begin with working with one's thoughts but his meditation teachings focus on practices of using body awareness as a vehicle to open the heart and transform the mind. I find his audio guide on putting attention on body awareness to be extremely helpful in becoming deeply present and centered in the moment. He is also a teacher of Tantric practices. He now resides in Crestone, Colorado, as the President and Spiritual Director of the Dharma Ocean foundation. |
