Creating Miniature Rainforests to learn about the water cycle, energy

photosynthesis, and ecosystems

Ground Truthing Satellite data for the Forest Watch program which checks the

health of pine trees using spectrographic data derived from chlorophyll samples

taken from pine trees in "pixel sized" plots. Here, student determines the height of

one of the chlorophyll sample trees.

Students are working on a Civil Engineering problem solving project

to control erosion and deposition in miniature scale towns they have

created.

Students study energy conversion, forces, and some basic solar and mechanical

engineering as they build and test their solar cars.

Students design, build and test truss bridges learning about the forces

of tension, compression, twisting and shearing.

Discovering the microscopic world of protists.

This life size replica of a T-Rex skull was sculpted in one of Mr. Davis'

"special projects" classes by a group of enthusiastic young paleontologists.

Mr. Davis constructing a sailboat test tank allowing the students to learn

first-hand about buoyancy, friction, balanced and unbalanced forces, hydrodynamics,

pressure, center of gravity and the engineering process.
