A FABLE

Three CWA officers and three telephone company executives (one each from ATT, Pac Bell and General Telephone) were traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three CWA officers each bought tickets and watched as the three telephone company executives bought a single ticket between them. "How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?' asked one of the CWA officers. "Watch and you'll see," answered a Pac Bell executive.

They all boarded the train. The CWA officers took their respective seats and asked for menus so they could eat and drink their way to the conference. All three executives crammed into a restroom and closed the door behind them. Shortly after the train departed the conductor came around to collect tickets. He knocked on the restroom door and said, "ticket, please." The door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged with a ticket in hand. The conductor took it and moved on. The CWA Officers in between bites of food, taking a drink and filling out their vouchers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea.

After the conference, the CWA officers decided to try the same trick and pocket some money. When they got to the station, they bought a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the telco executives did not buy a ticket at all. "How are you going to travel without a ticket asks one of thebefuddled Local officers. "Watch and you'll see," answered the GTE executive.

When they boarded the train the three CWA local officers crammed into a restroom. The three telco executives crammed into another one nearby. Shortly after the train departed, the AT&T executive left the restroom where they were hiding and walked over to the restroom where the CWA officers were hiding. He knocked on the door and said, "Ticket, please..."

Moral of the story? If either of the three (3) officers [Moreno, Fitton or Natoli] had an original thought, it would die of loneliness!
