Interior of Ballintubber Abbey

The Abbey was striking in its simple elegance and timelessness.


Though Sandra and I were the only people in the Abbey at the time of our visit, we were kept company by several birds which flew around in the rafters.

 

This is one of the many beautiful carvings representing scenes from the life of Christ which were scattered about on the interior walls of the Abbey. This is the only one I took a picture of, and as luck would have it, it is the same one which was above the table Pierce and Keely used when they signed their wedding license.
