DEAD AND BURIED
Novelization, First Printing, November 1980
He thought dead men told no tales.
The murders were bad enough, but what Sheriff Dan Gillis couldn't understand were the newcomers to Potter's Bluff, and their eerie resemblance to people he had seen DEAD & BURIED.
He couldn't tell Janet, because even his beautiful wife was acting strangely lately. Was he imagining things? Or was something evil preying on the sleepy town of Potter's Bluff, something as shadowy as the faceless killers who roamed the land.
WELCOME TO POTTER'S BLUFF.
A NEW WAY OF LIFE.
That's what the sign said. But for some, Potter's Bluff had become a new way of death.
DAN GILLIS. He was the law. And he was terrified. At first he was puzzled by the epidemic of murder. Then he was angry. And then his anger turned to fear. Gut-wrenching, cold-sweating fear of what was about to happen.
JANET GILLIS. What was her link to the murdered stranger? Was she hiding something that would soon be buried?
WILIAM DOBBS. The mortician's mortician. His business was death. And business was better than ever.
It's good to know that the truth will out -- even if it's
DEAD AND BURIED
… or maybe it would be better never to know the truth at all!

Novelization
Unseen, they've stalked us for centuries. Unstoppable, their terror has just begun.
Bantam May 1984
CHELSEA QUINN YARBRO, author of Dead and Buried and The Saint Germain Chronicles, is an acknowledged master of vivid, richly woven horror. Nomads is a haunting, harrowing excursion into contemporary terror.
From a screenplay by John McTiernan
They have lived unseen among us for untold ages -- dark, faceless creatures of evil, roving endlessly, seeking to feed their horrible hunger.
One man had seen them, has hunted them to their last refuge at the edge of the urban wasteland. For him, entry into their hellish world carries a terrible price.
Now a young woman doctor is reliving his excursion into terror. For her, the journey is just beginning, and the nightmare will never end …
Nothing this side of death can stop them.
Amid the rootless drifters drawn to the California sun stalks an ancient, restless terror. Among the hookers and bikers, junkies and losers of the hard-core fringe dwell beings of unspeakable evil who thirst for human souls. Into this twilight world of unrelenting fear came three unknowing victims: Jean-Charles Pommier, a French-Canadian anthropologist who has spent his life observing the world's wanderers. His lovely wife, Veronique, who fights to keep him from a horror she cannot understand. And Eileen Flax, a young doctor fleeing her past, who finds herself ina nightmare from which there is no escape.
Once again the photograph caught his attention.
There on the ice a single Eskimo stood, the vast, blank emptiness around him so stark that the frigid wind seemed to come off the shiny paper. The Eskimo had been photographed at a distance, so that his isolation was almost complete.
And yet -- there was a sense about him, an uneasiness that had little to do with hunting. It appeared now, as it had when Pommier ahd first seen the man and taken his picture, that the lone figure was -- he studied the hunter intently -- was trespassing.
