HOME SURNAME LIST NAME INDEX SOURCES EMAIL US | Descendants of Thomas Watt BeardThe Beard Family left South Carolina before 1820, living in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, until found in Jackson County, Arkansas, in 1850. About 1854, the family emigrated to Coryell County, Texas, where the entire family appeared on the 1860 census. After the war, Alexander moved to Travis County, Texas, where his descendants settled. Thomas Watt, Jr. moved to southwest Texas, with many descendants now in Uvalde County. Solomon died early, and his family moved to Comanche County, Texas. Willis Beard was killed in the civil War, and William Beard moved to Ventura County, California by 1880. Daughter Mary Ann married John Ferrell and after he died, William Taylor; descendants in California; Isabella Mahulda married James Timothy Lee and after he died William Nelson Crawford (Crawford, Texas, is named for him); descendants in central Texas and Stonewall County. Rebecca Jane married Robert S. Scott; descendants near Lee County, Texas. Common children's names in the family are Willis, Alexander, Solomon, Isabelle and Lucy. We are currently researching whether Thomas was the son of Alexander and Sarah Baird. Alexander was a Revolutionary Soldier from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, who filed for a pension from Franklin County, Tennessee in 1824 and Marion County, Alabama in 1831.
