DEATHS

Tom Beard, 77

Services for Tom Beard, 77, of Brownwood will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Cross Plains Cemetery.

He died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at his home, after a sudden illness.

Born Sept. 3, 1908 in Bangs, he lived most of his life in Brown County. He was retired.

Survivors include a son, T. J. Beard of Brownwood; eight daughters, Nelda Smith of Alvord, Betty Cunningham and Judy McClellan, both of Brownwood, Mary Robinson of Amarillo, Wanda McKinley of May, Ruth Dickerson of Odessa, Dorothy Irwin of Zephyr, and Debra Kelly of Cross plains; a sister, Elizabeth Garner of Aspermont; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was married to Maybelle Barron (daughter of Robert L. Barron and Mary M.) on 19 May 1929 in Brown County, Texas. ⁽³⁸¹⁾ Thomas Jefferson Beard Jr. and Maybelle Barron had the following children:
