OBITUARY OF PETER DUPUY

Richmond Times, September 1, 1826, Page 3

DIED - In this city on the 29th inst. After an illness of three days, Mr. Peter Dupuy, in the 67th year of his age. In his death society has lost an amiable member; the Baptist church a pious brother; his affected widow a tender husband; and his affectionate children a loving and beloved father.

Mr. Dupuy was for several years a member and an officer of that renowned band of veterans who achieved our glorious independence.

In the morning of his life he embraced the religion of Jesus, which illuminated his path and shone in all his subsequent conduct. For more than forty years he was a "Soldier of the Cross," and under the invincible banner of "the Prince of Peace" he was finally victorious. Death approached him without a sting; he triumphed in the conflict - His last words were Glory, Glory. In short, he lived and he died like a Christian.

"Mark the perfect man and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace."

{Note - Peter Dupuy was a son of John Bartholomew Dupuy and Esther Guerrant}
