Commissioner of the Revenue in Prince Edward County, VA, for about 25 years, and though opposed at every election by clever candidates, he was not defeated for the office, until old age incapacitated him for it; Elder, for about 40 years, in the Bethlehem Presbyterian church, successor to the "Welsh Track Meeting House".

He was married to Elizabeth S. Walton on 23 Jan 1810 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Elizabeth S. Walton was born on 18 Feb 1795 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. ⁽¹¹⁴⁾ She died on 26 Feb 1864 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. ⁽¹¹⁴⁾ Watkins Dupuy and Elizabeth S. Walton had the following children:
