In October, 1864, Mr. R. S. Dupuy and family of eastern Kentucky moved to the then promising town of Ironton, Ohio, and began at once to build up their occupation of tanning leather, depending at that time principally upon what hides could be secured of the butchers and farmers.

I.R. Mar. 24, 1892 - Among the remote effects of the late political cyclone in this state, is the retiring of Dr. Van Dupuy from his position as physician of the Xenia Home. He is superseded by Dr. A. P. Messenger, of Wellston. The Xenia Gazette speaks of Dr. Dupuy's connection with the home as efficient and honorable. He performed his duties perfectly and won the esteem of all by his courteous and high - minded demeanor.
I.R. Dec. 22, 1898 - Dr. Van Dupuy has been operated on for appendicitis and is getting along well.

He was married to Cynthia Garland (daughter of N. R. Garland and Vienna) on 31 May 1865. Cynthia Garland was born on 22 Oct 1840 in Lewis County, Kentucky. She died on 22 Feb 1904 in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio. She was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.

Much loved Woman - funeral services of Mrs. R. S. Dupuy were held Thursday at the family residence on Park Avenue. Mrs. Garrison, a sister of Mrs. Dupuy, is the only surviving member of a family of eleven children. Cynthanne Garland, daughter of N. R. and Vienna Garland, was born in Lewis County, Kentucky, October 21, 1840; married there in 1865 to R. S. Dupuy, and moved to Ironton the same year. Died February 22, 1904. Burial at Woodland.
