CUYAHOGA FALLS Joseph Ed ward Dupuy, know to all as "Ed", was born
in Louisiana on May 19, 1919 died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at Akron General Hospital.
His father, Edward Cathy Dupuy (known to his grandchildren as "Papa")
and his mother was Jessie Cathy (known to her grandchildren "Memaw").
Ed attended Mississip pi State University and upon graduation worked for the
Army Corps of Engineers, doing erosion studies on the Mississippi River and directing
dredging barges. He then accepted a position with General Electric and spent
the next 40 years plus with GE, retiring in the late 1970's as department general
manager.
His 40 plus years took him from Lynn, Mass. to Memphis, Tenn., where he started
his family. Then to Cleveland, Ohio and ultimately to the Youngstown, Ohio area,
where his children were launched into their lives and where he retired. From
there, he and his wife, Nellie moved back to Memphis to be near old friends and
close family. In the early 1990's following a severe illness, he moved into the
Aurora area with his son, Lynn and daughter-in-law, Dot. Most recently he lived
at Sunrise Assisted Living Residence and enjoyed the compa ny of the staff and
residents. He will be fondly remembered by all of his acquaintances.
Ed is survived by daughter, Carol Mayfield and son-in-law, Mike May field; son,
Lynn and daughter-in- law, Dottie Dupuy; grandchildren, Tracey, Justin, Tammy,
and Brett; and great-grandchildren, Tommy, Zachary, Megan, Tasha, and Lance.
Memorials are suggested ALSAC/ St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 111 Second
Ave. N.E., Suite 812, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 or to the Columbus Speech and
Hear ing Center, 510 E. North Broadway, Columbus, OH 43214. Services will be
held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at Johnson-Romito, A Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 19 E. Main St., (on the square) Hudson, Ohio (330-650-4181) where friends
will be received Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
