OBITUARIES

MRS. BALCH

Funeral for Mrs. Laura Louella Balch, 94, of 905 S. 33rd St., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, the Rev. Bob Briles officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Balch died Wednesday night in a Temple Hospital. She had been ill for several months.

She was born in Calvert, the daughter of Joseph and Mattie Hunter, who were early settlers in the Calvert community. She was married to Vinnett O. Balch, Aug. 21, 1897. They lived in Battle for several years before moving to West Texas near Merkel. Mr. Balch died in 1910. She moved to Temple in 1919. She was a member of the Seventh Street Methodist Church and was active in church work until a few years ago.

Surviving are a son, Robert l. (Bob) Balch of Temple; four daughters, Mrs. W. C. Banzhaf and Mrs. L. W. Moore, both of Temple; Mrs. Mary O'neill of Galveston and Mrs. George V. Tucker of Killeen; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Banzhaf, Glen Banzhaf, Eddy Moore, James Peddcard, John Lusk Jr. and Charles Fischer.

She was married to Vinnet Olenzo Balch (son of Robert Samuel Balch and Margaret "Maggie" Alice Chiles) on 21 Aug 1898 in McLennan County, Texas.(1086) Vinnet Olenzo Balch was born on 18 Oct 1874 in Lawrence County, Alabama. He appeared on the census on 7 Jun 1900 in Battle, J. P. No. 2, McLennan County, Texas.(1087) He appeared on the census on 24 Apr 1910 in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas. (1088) He died on 2 Oct 1910 in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas. OBITUARIES

ROBERT L. BALCH

Funeral for Robert L. Balch, 78, of 205 Yuma, will be today at 2 p.m. in Harper-Talasek Funeral Home with the Rev. William Winston officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Balch died late Saturday afternoon in a local nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Balch was born in Merkel and came to Temple in 1918 where he operated a battery business. He retired after 25 years in business and then worked for the John Lusk Real Estate Company until several years ago.

He was in the Army during World War I and was a charter member of the American Legion.

Survivors are his sister, Mrs. Frances Tucker, Mrs. L. W. Moore and Mrs. C. W. Banzhaf, all of Temple and Mrs. Mary O'Neal of Galveston.

The family will be at the L. W. Moore residence, 2316 Yuma.
