Mrs.Crutchfield's Rites Thursday

Mrs. Louise Crutchfield, 91 years of age, a pioneer resident of North Lea County died at the Good Samaritan Center in Lovington Tuesday before noon. She had resided at the Good Samaritan Center since February of this year.

Mrs. Crutchfield was born May 15, 1887, near Waco, Texas. She was united in marriage to Luther C. Crutchfield December 24, 1906 at Snyder, Texas. They came to New Mexico in 1909 and settled at Need More, now known as Prairieview, northeast of Lovington. They engaged in ranching there until 1948, at which time they moved to Lovington. Mr. Crutchfield preceded her in death in June of 1963.

An only son, Carl Crutchfield, died in September of 1964. Mrs. Crutchfield was an active member of the United Methodist Church at Prairieview and Lovington for over 50 years. She taught Sunday school in the local church for close to 40 years.

She was a member of Lovington Chapter, No. 35, Order of Eastern Star for 30 years, and played an active role in the organization of the Old Folks Reunion at Prairieview, now held annually to honor the old timers of the area.

Mrs. Crutchfield is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bess Dahl of Albuquerque and Mrs. Eleanor Ainsworth in Oregon; one grandson, C. Barry Crutchfiefd , two great-grandchildren, Jenna Leigh and Kelli Elizabeth Crutchfield of Lovington and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Estelle Crutchfield of Lovington.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crutchfield will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cyril Stone, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.

She was married to Luther C. Crutchfield (son of George Crutchfield and Martha) on 24 Dec 1906 in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas. Luther C. Crutchfield was born in 1878 in Marion, Smythe County, Virginia. He appeared on the census on 9 Apr 1930 in Prairie View, Lea County, New Mexico. ⁽¹¹⁴⁹⁾ He died in Jun 1963 in Lovington, Lea County, New Mexico. He was buried in Lovington Cemetery, Lea County, New Mexico. Louisa Isabelle Wyche and Luther C. Crutchfield had the following children:
