Message: I had a stepgrandfather who's name was Joseph Rupert Dupuy. He was born in 1900 around Brownsville Texas. He came to Illinois when he was a teenager via a circuitous route. I believe he came with a brother at the same time. I cannot remember his name. but knew he married a woman named Goldie Hull and lived around Moline IL and was believed drowned in the Rock River there in the 1950's.

My step grandfather married my dad's mother in the 30's and lived in Chicago before moving to Galesburg, IL before the second world war where he worked as an auto mechanic at the Chevy garage. Whereupon in the 50's he bought a small feed store in Oquawka, IL and then later went into farming and eventually living and dying near Avon, IL in 1965. I sat many a night in the summer outside listening to stories about his family in Texas and the family and social gatherings there.
