Services for Ida May S. Vincent of MrMinnville were held Tuesday in St. Paul.
Mrs. Vincent died Jan 21, 1989, in The Careousel Care Center, McMinnville. She
She was born June 23, 1895, in New Meadow, Idaho, the daughter of John W. Smith
and Walsa Glenn. She moved to Oregon when she was 2.
She was raised in St. Paul by the Buyserie family. She lived in Newberg in the
1940's and worked in the Riviera Restaurant.
Mrs. Vincent then lived on a farm on High Heaven Road, west of McMinnville, from
1949 to 1950. She and her husband donated that property, now know as Camp Smith,
to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
She moved back to Newberg in 1951, then to McMinnville about eight years ago.
Mrs. Vincent was a member of the Newberg Catholic Church and she loved children
and working with the Girl Scouts, relatives said.
She is survived by a daughter, Walsa Cross of Fallon, Nev.; three grandchildren,
George Cross of Portland, Edward Cross of Fallon and Ellen L. Cross of Laguna
Hills, Calif.; seven great-granchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Scott-McGhehey Funeral Home of McMinnville was in charge of the arrangements.
She was married to Jake T. Lumen (son of Jacob Lumen
and Martha Fritsch) in 1915. Jake
T. Lumen was born on 29 Dec 1889 in Oklahoma. He appeared on the census
in 1920 in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. He died in Mar 1965. Ida Mae Smith
and Jake T. Lumen had the following children:
