Mrs. Thomas B. Harrison

Mrs. Thomas B. (Anne) Harrison, 51, of 4309 Driftwood, died yesterday morning in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born in Austin and lived in Nueces County since 1962.

Among survivors are her husband; two sons, Glenn Charles and Thomas B. Harrison Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Peraino; her mother, Mrs. Elsie Glenn; a brother, Walter Glenn, all of Corpus Christi, and five grandchildren.

She was married to Thomas Brooks Harrison Sr. (son of Joseph Kirby Harrison and Vera Ella Brooks) about 1942 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. , Sr., USN Ret., 86, a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, passed away in a local hospital on Oct. 29, 2003. He was born on Nov. 28, 1916 in Roswell, New Mexico to Joseph Kirby Harrison and Vera Brooks Harrison, formerly of Austin, Texas.

He received a bachelor's degree upon graduation from the University of New Mexico. At the start of World War II he joined the Navy and became an Aviator in Corpus Christi, Texas, and married his late wife, Anne Harrison.

During his lengthy career as a Navy aviator and Navy Flight Instructor he served through World War II, the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in many geographical locations, as well as on ships, and attached to the Naval Bureau in Wash. D. C.

When he retired from his Naval Aviation career he returned to Corpus Christi, Texas where he then began working as the first NJROTC Instructor for the Corpus Christi Independent School District when CCISD initiated the first NJROTC school program at Miller High School. He remained the NJROTC instructor at Miller until he again retired some 20 years later. He was a resident of Corpus Christi for the past 40 years, active in the community, an avid gardener, and devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne Harrison, a grandchild, a great grandchild, two brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his three children; Patricia Peraino, Thomas B. Harrison, Jr., and Glenn Harrison, seven grandchildren; Chris Chappell, Mitch Chappell, Sharon Peraino Douglas, Richard "Anthony" Peraino, Jr., Deborah Harrison, Jonathan Harrison and Julie Harrison, seven great grandchildren and his two sisters; Vera Forester and Helen Whisenand (and her husband Bill).

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2003 and Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
