He bought West Half of Block 9, College Addition for $400 on 11 Apr 1898 in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁰¹⁾ He appeared on the census on 15 Jun 1900 in Precinct #5, Taylor County, Texas.⁽⁵⁰²⁾ He appeared on the census on 29 Apr 1910 in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁰³⁾ He appeared on the census on 19 Jun 1920 in 3306 Avenue D, Polytechnic, Tarrant County, Texas.⁽⁵⁰⁴⁾ He died on 10 May 1943 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁰⁵⁾ He was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Taylor County, Texas.

Mr. Hunter worked as a bookkeeper for the Sloan Lumber Company in Fort Worth.

FUNERAL FOR J. M. HUNTER SET WEDNESDAY

Services for Joseph M. Hunter, 78, of 3820 Avenue M, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ray Crowder Funeral Home. Rev. Fred J. Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill.

Mr. Hunter, a resident here for 35 years, died Monday afternoon.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. T. E. Box, Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Willie Mae Hunter, Mrs. S. A. Austin and Mrs. E. B. Abington, all of Fort Worth; four sons, Clarence, Joe and Bartlett Hunter, all of Fort Worth, and Earl Hunter, Tyler; two brothers, Robert A. Hunter, Austin, and S. M. Hunter, Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. Laura Balch, Temple, and eight grandchildren.

He was married to Will Ella Mae Starkey (daughter of Julia) on 7 Mar 1895 in McLennan County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁰⁶⁾ Will Ella Mae Starkey was born on 5 Dec 1872 in Jackson County, Alabama. She died on 30 Mar 1947 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. She was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Taylor County, Texas.

MRS. ELLA HUNTER

Revs. Garland Lavender and W. W. Ward will conduct services at 4 p.m. Monday in Ray Crowder Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Ella Hunter, 74, of 3820 Ave. M. resident here for 29 years, who died Sunday in a hospital. Burial will take place in Rose Hill.

Mrs. Hunter was a member of the OES [Order of the Eastern Star] and the Polytechnic Methodist Church.

Survivors are four daughters, Mmes. Frank Gurley, S. A. Austin and E. B. Abington, all of Fort Worth, and T. E. Box of Kansas City; four sons, C. A., Joe L., and Bartlett Hunter, all of Fort Worth, and Earl Hunter, Waco; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
