GILBERT M. HUNTER, a successfuI farmer of McLennan county, is a son of Gilbert V and Naomi (McCuistion) Hunter. The father was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1823, was Justice of' the Peace a number of years in his community, was a member of the Masonic order and of the Methodist Church, and was a farmer and saddle-maker by trade. He participated in the late war, in Captain Richardson's company, and while in the service contracted a cold, and died of pneumonia April 16, 1863, in Robinson county, Texas. Grandfather Isaac E. Hunter was a native or North Carolina, and subsequently removed to Davidson county, Tennessee, where he married and reared his family. He was first married to a Miss Marshall and they had two boys and three girls, and afterward wedded Mary Redden, by whom lie had three boys and one girl. The Hunters are of German descent. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter were married in Robinson county in 1845, and were the parents of eight children, viz.: Isaac, a resident of Mart; B. J., also of Mart; Mary E., wife of J. H. Goodman; G. M., our subject; James R., deceased; Thaddeus S., deceased; and Martha B., deceased, was the wife of-James Davis. After the father's death the mother was married to J. L. Hunter, a half brother of her former husband, and they had one child, William, of Battle, Texas. The mother died September 16, 1869.

Gilbert M. Hunter was born in Crockett, Houston county, November 6, 1854, and after his mother's death lie lived with an older sister until his marriage. At the age of eighteen years be began farming the land which he inherited from his father, but afterward sold this place and bought land in Robinson county, five miles from Franklin. In 1881 he came to his present farm of 400 acres, four miles west of Mart 240 acres of which is cultivated. Mr. Hunter came to his present location with only $600 and by thrift and energy lie has accumulated about $9,000. He is a Democrat in his political views, and his first presidential vote was for Samuel J. Tilden. Both he and his wife are members of the Methodist Church, in which the former has held the office of Steward since his marriage.

He was married in Robinson county Texas, October 27, 1872 to Sarah A., a daughter of Rev. Oscar D. and Isabella Wyche. The father died December 4, 1871, and the mother now resides in Marlin Falls county. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter have had seven children, viz.: Gilbert Oscar, born August 20 1874; Naomi Isabelle, February 16, 1876; Bertha May, August 10, 1878; Marshall E., November 26, 1880; Sally W., February 26, 1883; Martha W., July 18, 1885; and Mary Alice, March 7, 1888.

He was married to Sarah Ann Wyche (daughter of Oscar Dunreath Wyche and Elizabeth Isabel Trainer) on 27 Oct 1872 in Robertson County, Texas.⁽⁴⁶⁶⁾ Sarah Ann Wyche was born on 5 Oct 1854 in Bexar County, Texas. She appeared on the census on 4 Jun 1900 in Precinct #1, McLennan County, Texas. ⁽⁴⁶⁷⁾ She appeared on the census on 20 Apr 1910 in JP #2, McLennan County, Texas.⁽⁴⁶⁸⁾ She appeared on the census on 27 Apr 1910 in 549 Busch Street, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.⁽⁴⁶⁹⁾ She appeared on the census on 13 Jan 1920 in 503 King's Highway, Dallas, Texas. ⁽⁴⁷⁰⁾ She died on 6 Sep 1956 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. MRS. SARAH ANN HUNTER, 101, DIES AFTER HEART ATTACK

Mrs. Sarah Ann Hunter, 101-year old native Texas, died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Born Oct. 1, 1854, in Bexar County, she was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Oscar Wyche who came to Texas from Virginia soon after the Texas Revolution. When she was 18, she married Gilbert Marshall Hunter in Robertson County.

They farmed there until 1882 when Hunter bought a farm 16 miles east of Waco. They moved into Waco in 1894 and he died there the following year.

Mrs. Hunter was a charter member of the Austin Avenue Methodist Church in Waco, and was a lifelong Methodist.

She came to Dallas in 1908.

Survivors include a son, E. M. Hunter of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. G. M. Easley and Mrs. C. W. Wheat, both of Dallas, Mrs. F. A. Waldrop of Waco and Mrs. P. B. Arrington of Yucaipa, Calif., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Geo. A. Brewer Funeral Chapel, 3603 Ross.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Waco.
