Descendants of Jacob, Dempsey, Allen, David, and Thomas Hunter This site is devoted to the descendants of Jacob, Dempsey, Allen, David, and Thomas Hunter, who were all thought to be brothers or first cousins, and descendants of William Hunter of Nansemond County, Virginia. It is thought that they are descendants of Dempsey Hunter, son of Isaac Hunter who died about 1745 in Northampton County, North Carolina. Isaac was in turn the son of Nicholas Hunter, d. 1749, Cartaret County, North Carolina, a son of William Hunter of Nansemond County, Virginia. The origins of this family have been debated for over 60 years, and this site does not try to solve this problem. It does however try to summarize all information that has been accumulated by me on this family, with the hope that it will help to finally solve this genealogical mystery.
