107. James LeRoy Martin
was born on 29 Mar 1832 in Marshall County, Tennessee. He appeared on the census
on 20 Jun 1860 in District #4, Decatur County, Tennessee.
(130) He captured by a detachment of Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's
regiment under Col. William L. Duckworth on 24 Mar 1864 in Union City, Obion
County, Tennessee. He died on 8 Sep 1864 in Andersonville, Georgia.
John LeRoy Martin was a private in Company H, 7th Regiment Tennessee Cavalry
(Union), and appeared on this regiment's muster rolls for January and February,
1864. He and most of his regiment was captured at Union City, Tenessee, on March
24, 1864. J. L. Martin was later listed as a prisoner of war at Andersonville
Prison, Georgia, where he died of Typhoid on September 8, 1864. He is buried
near the prison.
He was married to S. Ellen McMillan (daughter of Gilbert
McMillan and Eleanor Nichols) in 1850 in Decatur County,
Tennessee. S. Ellen McMillan was born in 1828 in
Tennessee. She died in 1861 in Decatur County, Tennessee. James LeRoy Martin
and S. Ellen McMillan had the following children:
