I have my grandfather's Bible and on the front page his name is written William James Harvey Martin. Other than this, I have always seen his name written as James Harvey Martin. We have searched Civil War microfilm and haven't been able to find his record. His grandfather, William Martin, gave him the Bible which was published in 1850. ^Our immigrant Martin ancestor is believed to have come from Ireland. The Martins first lived in PA and later moved to Lincoln Co., NC. William Martin moved his family to TN in the early 1800's. There is record of a deed in Rutherford County, TN dated 1805. James Harvey Martin was born in TN on Feb. 17, 1836. He lived a short time in MO where he left to serve in the Confederate Army. The remainder of his life was spent in Lamar County, Texas where he worked as a brick mason. I am his only living grandchild.

He was married to Sarah J. Finn on 31 Oct 1872 in Lamar County, Texas. Sarah J. Finn was born on 24 Jul 1851. She died on 25 Sep 1873 in Lamar County, Texas. She was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Lamar County, Texas.
