Thomas Jefferson Nelson was born on 2 Dec 1827 in Orange County, North Carolina. ⁽¹⁾ He bought Land Patent 40.00 acres on 1 Sep 1857 in Newton County, Arkansas.⁽¹¹⁾ He appeared on the census on 14 Jun 1860 in Prairie Township, Newton County, Arkansas. ⁽¹²⁾ He appeared on the census on 27 Jun 1870 in Prairie Township, Newton County, Arkansas.⁽¹³⁾ He appeared on the census on 23 Jun 1880 in Precinct #2, Gillespie County, Texas. ⁽¹⁴⁾ He appeared on the census on 27 Jun 1900 in Precinct #8, Williamson County, Texas.⁽¹⁵⁾ He died in 1904 in Pond Springs, Williamson County, Texas. He was buried in Pond Springs Cemetery, Williamson County, Texas.

Thomas Nelson enlisted in Springfield, Mo. as a Union Army soldier in the Civil War. He was a blacksmith by trade and was a Methodist in religious belief.
