Thomas Alfred "Tom" Beard was born on 15 Feb 1893 in Austin, Travis County, Texas.⁽³⁶⁾ He appeared on the census in Jan 1920 in JP #1, Alpine Town, Brewster County, Texas.⁽⁵⁶⁰⁾ He appeared on the census on 4 Apr 1930 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁶¹⁾ He died on 24 Feb 1979 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas. ⁽⁵⁶²⁾ He was buried in Elm Grove Cemetery, Brewster County, Texas.
Mr. Beard was a distributor for the Standard Oil Company for many years.

He was married to Mabel Elizabeth Koehl (daughter of Oswald A. Koehl and Mary Elizabeth Evans) on 18 Jan 1916 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas.⁽⁵⁶³⁾ Mabel Elizabeth Koehl was born on 27 Sep 1891 in Bracken, Comal County, Texas. She died on 3 Mar 1995 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas.⁽⁷⁶⁾ She was buried in Elm Grove Cemetery, Brewster County, Texas.

In Loving Memory

Mrs. T. A. Beard (Mabel Elizabeth) born in Braken, September 27, 1891, the daughter of O. A. and Mary Emily Koehl. She lived during her youth in San Marcos, where she received her education at Southwest Texas State University. January 18, 1916, in Corpus Christi, Texas she married T. A. Beard. They moved to Alpine in 1920. In January of that year she became a member of First United Methodist Church. She was active in all activities of the church.

Mabel was an active member of the Alpine Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Social Order of the Beauceant.

She is survived by a son, Norman Beard of Alpine, a daughter, (Barbara) Mrs. Grandville Smith, of San Juan, Texas and a grandson, Jim Beard of Brackettville, Texas.
