He appeared on the census on 11 Jun 1900 in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas. ⁽⁷⁵⁾ He appeared on the census on 2 May 1910 in 4411 Spencer Street, JP #12, Harris County, Texas.⁽⁷⁶⁾ He appeared on the census on 6 Jan 1920 in 815 Leverkuhn, JP #1, Harris County, Texas.⁽⁷⁷⁾ He appeared on the census on 11 Apr 1930 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. ⁽⁷⁸⁾ He died on 9 Jul 1936 in Harris County, Texas. ⁽⁷⁹⁾ He was buried in Resthaven Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

MORTUARY

NELSON - Thomas Jefferson Nelson, 76, of 916 Malone, died at his residence at 3:25 p.m. Thursday. He had been a resident of Houston for 28 years.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Flora A. Kelley, Mrs. Elizabeth Bennett, Mrs. Roxie F. Payne, all of Houston, Mrs. Inez M. Swift of Dallas and Mrs. Bernice St. Clair of Wichita Falls; three sons, Luther, Thomas J., Jr., and Walter A. Nelson, all of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Jack Cromeans of Austin, 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at 4 p.m. Friday at the Houston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William B. McCafferty officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery, Houston Funeral Home directing.

He was married to Hannah J. Cunningham (daughter of Calvin Cunningham and Nancy Birdwell) in 1881. Hannah J. Cunningham was born on 26 Dec 1861 in Texas. She died 1920 to 1930. Thomas Jefferson Nelson and Hannah J. Cunningham had the following children:
