NOBLE LONG

Noble Long, age 81, of Austin passed away Monday, November 6, 1995.

He was born in Williamson County, Texas, on September 26, 1914, to Jesse and Minnie ``May'' Long. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Europe during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 173, VFW 856 and the American Legion Post 83, and the Hill City Lodge No. 456, A.F. & A.M. For many years he enjoyed doing volunteer work with the veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma Haggerty and niece, Donna Pearson.

Survivors include: wife, Louise R. Long of Austin; daughters, Linda M. Whaley and husband, Kenneth of Houston, and Mary L. Long of Austin; grandsons, Matthew and Stephen Whaley of Houston; niece, Terri Haggerty of Lytton Springs.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress, with Pastor Paul Podraza officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family desires those wishing to make memorials to do so to South Austin Christian Church or the Shivers Cancer Center.
