Descendants of Alfred Nelson

Alfred Nelson was the son of John Nelson and Jennet Tate of Orange County, North Carolina. John Nelson and Jennet Tate were married in Orange County, North Carolina, in 1789. John Nelson was the son of David Nelson and Isabella Craig; Jennet Tate was the daughter of George and Jennet Tate. John Nelson was a Revolutionary War veteran. John Nelson died in 1822 in Orange County, and left 90 acres on the north side of his tract for son Alfred.

Nancy Gill was the daughter of Thomas Gill, Jr., and Mary Jones, who married in Orange County in 1801. Thomas Gill was the son of Thomas Gill, Sr.

Alfred and Nancy left Orange County, North Carolina in the late 1840's and settled in Marion County, Arkansas, appearing on the census there in 1850. They were on the 1860 census in Searcy County, Arkansas, and the 1870 census in neighboring Boone County.
