GWENDOLYN RUTLEDGE WARDLAW

SONORA - Gwendolyn Rutledge Wardlaw, 90, of Sonora died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, in Hudspeth Memorial Hospital in Sonora.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m Friday, Oct. 29, in Sonora Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home.

She was born June 21, 1909, in San Angelo to Hugh Toliver and Birdie Muckleroy Rutledge of Mertzon. She spent her early childhood in Mertzon with her two older sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Blanche) Blackwell of El Paso and Mrs. George (Evelyn) Russell of Ozona, both of whom are now deceased.

As a young girl she moved from Mertzon to Sonora where her parents were in business. On May 24, 1930, she married Jack Wardlaw Sr., a Sonora rancher, in Marietta, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1964.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Jackie Stallworth and husband, Bill, of Houston, Addah McLarty and husband, Don, of Houston, Linda Ponton of Kerrville and Jack David Wardlaw and wife, Jessie, of Sonora; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials for Gwen be made to the Sutton County Public Library or a charity of choice.

She was married to Jack David Wardlaw on 24 May 1930 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Jack David Wardlaw was born on 21 Dec 1892. He died on 16 Feb 1964 in Sutton County, Texas.⁽⁴⁶⁰⁾ Gwendolyn Rutledge and Jack David Wardlaw had the following children:
