Mozelle Rutledge Scott, 68, died Thursday April 16, 2002, at her
residence. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian
Church of Mertzon with burial in the Mertzon Cemetery. Arrangements are
by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Survivors include son, William Rutledge Scott of Mertzon, and sisters,
Mary Elderedge of San Antonio, and Sylvia Benson of Houston.

MOZELLE SCOTT

Mrs. William E. (Mozelle) Rutledge Scott died on April, 16, 2002.

Mozelle is survived by her son, William R. (Scooter) Scott; daughter-in-law, Nancy G. Scott; and her grandchildren, Saxon Mason (5), Mallory Elizabeth (4) and Spencer Elliott (2). Mrs. Scott is also survived by her sisters, Mary Eldridge and Sylvia (Hootie) Benson, her husband, Tom Benson and their children — Mozelle’s nieces and nephews — Taylor, Charlotte, Anne and Steve and their children.

Mozelle was born in San Angelo on Aug. 19, 1934, to Blake and Neita Rutledge. A lifetime resident of West Texas, she was a sheep and cattle rancher with her late husband, William Elliott (Bill) Scott. Mozelle was a graduate of Angelo State University with a bachelor’s degree in radio television/film.

The viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family will be at the viewing from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be in Mertzon at the First Christian Church on Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m. officiated by her pastor, the Rev. D.M. Bloomquist. Graveside service will be in the Mertzon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Mozelle requested that donations be made to VistaCare Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Brad Goodwin, Ronnie Goodwin, Hal Nolke, Kent Terrill, Taylor Benson, Chris Womack, Steve Coates, Steve Eldridge, Jon Parks and honorary pallbearers Monte Noelke, X.B. Cox and Tom Benson.

The family would like to express its appreciation for the love and care provided by the staff of VistaCare Family Hospice, especially her nurse, Ginger and additionally to Sylvia, Senida for their love and support.

Mozelles’ loves in life were her grandchildren, her son, Scooter and her ranch. She shall truly be missed by all who knew her. Robert Massie Funeral Home

She was married to William Elliott "Billy" Scott (son of John Robert Scott) on 24 Oct 1970 in Tom Green County, Texas. (1271) William Elliott "Billy" Scott was born on 29 Mar 1925. He died on 3 Nov 1982 in Tom Green County, Texas. (460) He was buried in Mertzon Cemetery, Irion County, Texas. Edith Mozelle Rutledge and William Elliott "Billy" Scott had the following children:
