BRIGGS, Jan. 17. - (ANS)
Funeral services for Mrs. C. M. Shelton, 76, were held at the Florence Church
of Christ Sunday. Burial was in the Andice Cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Cecil Everett of Florence, Mrs.
Gladys Powell of San Antonio and Mrs. Bernice Isaacks of San Angelo and three
sons.
She was married to Charles Melvin Shelton (son of James
Shelton and Mary Haines) on 6 Feb 1895 in Travis County,
Texas. Charles Melvin Shelton was born on 14 Nov
1868 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He appeared on the census in Jun 1900 in McNeil,
Precinct No. 4, Travis County, Texas.(986)
He appeared on the census on 18 May 1910 in Precinct #8, Williamson County,

The Sheltons farmed near Briggs, Texas. A story related by J. B. Beard and Mildred
Clark is that they once entered a program to take care of state prisoners in
their home. They invited one who stayed a few feeks, and then left never to
be heard from again. The Sheltons were unharmed.
