OBITUARIES

Ira W. Rutledge


Funeral services for Ira William Rutledge were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from Briggs-Gamel chapel with Ministers Silas Howell and Clay Mims officiating. Interment was in the Cauble Company.

Mr. Rutledge died Thursday at 9:45 a.m. at his home at 907 E. Ave. D after a serious illness of some two months. He had been in bad health for several years.

Born Jan. 25, 1883, in Burnet County, he lived in this section all his life, where he was a farmer-rancher, until 1952 when he moved to Lampasas. He was married July 30, 1916 to Emma Hamilton. Mr. Rutledge was a member of the church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife; a son, I. L. Rutledge of Burnet; a sister, Mrs. John Smith of Lampasas; and two grandsons.

Pallbearers were Denton Farquar, Charles rice, Jr., Hilton Smith, Raymond Smith, Rual Smith, and Wilton Smith.

He was married to Emma Lee Hamilton (daughter of Steven Kellogg Hamilton and Mary Ellen Calaway) on 30 Jul 1916 in Lake Victor, Burnet County, Texas. Emma Lee Hamilton was born on 14 Feb 1897 in Burnet County, Texas. She died on 30 Dec 1986 in Lampasas, Lampasas County, Texas.(866) She was buried in Cauble Cemetery, Burnet County, Texas.

DEATHS

MRS. RUTLEDGE


Mrs. Emma Lee Rutledge died Tuesday in the Lampasas Manor Nursing Home. She was 89 and had been a resident of Lampasas County for 25 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Briggs-Gamel chapel with Minister Lon Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Cauble Cemetery near Lake Victor.

Mrs. Rutledge was born Feb. 14, 1897, in Burnet County. She married Ira W. Rutledge July 30, 1916, in Lake Victor and was a member of the First and Walnut Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Ira Rutledge, of Lake Victor; two sisters, Sarah Dee Perry of Youngstown, Ohio, and Lula Roberts; two grandsons, Larry Rutledge of Archer City and Cody Rutledge of Lake Victor; and four great-grandchildren.

Briggs-Gamel Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
